Its a calm morning and a little gray, but the sound of the city as i opened my window this morning, was PEACE.
what an exhilerating sound it was. it resinated so deeply in me at that moment, i actually shed a tear.

i also pondered this : if everyone, all humans could set this day aside for a time of reflection and peace, why then
can we not do this every day?! would it be so hard to wrap ourselves in individual peace?

we have become slaves to our own greed of want. but if we can stop before we react and say to ourselves... "do i just want it,
or do i really need it", maybe then that forgotten sense of peace will come back to us again.

i just read an article about the EATON'S CENTRE and the SALVATION ARMY not being able to ring their bell to make people aware that CHRISTMAS....IS THE TIME TO GIVE TO THOSE WHO NEED THE MOST!

a few years ago, the EATON'S CENTRE asked the SALVATION ARMY not to ring the bells in the mall any more...because......(oh wait for it now???) IT ANNOYED THE VENDORS!!!

what the hell is that about???? the poor unfortunate vendors who make more money than gods at this time of the year....my heart bleeds for them. NOT.

KNOW WHAT I SAY....put up with it you selfish bastards....if you have forgot, it is the season for giving unto others that do not have. YOUR GIFT SHOULD BE TO PUT UP WITH THE BELLS!!!! i think that's the least you could do. the best you could do is donate a portion of one day's profits to the kettle nearest your store.

KNOW WHAT I SAY....its got to be 10x better listening to the kettle bell that the cheap, watered-down, elevator, milked over, brain-numbing music they pipe through the malls. SOMEONE NEEDS TO COMPLAIN TO THE EATON'S CENTRE ABOUT THAT....ya let's do that!!!! lets have the crap music banned. EMAIL the EATON'S CENTRE and tell them that the music is TRULY ANNOYING and it is disrupting your shopping enjoyment!!!!!
if EATON'S wants to take THE SPIRIT OF CHRISTMAS AWAY....get rid of the crap music too.....

Hockey Teams, Nightmares And Dreams...

Good Morning All,

there was an interesting article right on the front page of MSN CANADA this morning that got my attention.

its about a hockey coach and team that made a BRAVE DECISION to walk off the ice. not because of fighting, not because of riotous fans,....nope this team walked off the ice because THE RACIALLY OFFENSIVE LANGUAGE USED BY A PLAYER FROM THE OPPOSING TEAM WAS TRULY DAMAGING AND UN SPORTSMAN-LIKE.

KNOW WHAT I SAY......WAY TO GO COACH!!!!

the coach, GARY WALSH walked off the ice with his players in the 3rd period.

so now some background to this story.
during a minor hockey game in Peterborough in November, 2 players were penalized and sent to the box. they yelled back and forth at each other. the opposing player called the other (McCullum) not a nice name. in fact i will tell you the word "NIGGER". NOT JUST ONCE....but a few times.
the ref sat the two players out for the rest of the period.

in the dressing room Walsh asked his player, 'Did it happen again?' he replied yes.
apparently this is not the first time this player has heard this.

After discussing it with the team, Walsh herded his players back out for the 3rd period. when the opposing player got to the ice, Walsh and his team walked off.

according to the rules of Hockey Canada, the sport's national governing body, no team is allowed to leave the ice before then end of a game. only the ref can call the game.
"As a team we decided, in order to support the morals that we have, that we wouldn't play under those circumstances and we walked off," Walsh said.

at the cost of being suspended from coaching, Walsh did the right thing.

THERE IS NO NEED TO SPEAK LIKE THAT TO ANY PLAYER, THERE IS NO NEED FOR HOCKEY CANADA TO ENCOURAGE OR ACCEPT SUCH BEHAVIOR....AND THERE SHOULD BE NO NEED TO SUSPEND A COACH FOR STANDING UP TO SUCH BEHAVIOR.

through all of this fiasco....the opposing team coach suspended himself for 3 games as a show of solidarity.
the player who spoke the offensive language was also suspended for 3 games by the Peterborough Minor Hockey Association.

AND COACH WALSH....unfortunately he has been suspended indefinitely pending a review by the Ontario Minor Hockey Association.

what really bothers me is that this has been a real problem in minor hockey. i can't believe coaches and refs and players alike allow this to happen without having Hockey Canada look into it.
maybe as a deterrent, fines should be in place....NOT FOR THE TEAM, but for the individual player that decides to open his dirty little mouth to speak.
you say, "come on, how can you fine a 16 year old???"

I SAY.....HOW CAN YOU NOT? do you think a few game suspensions is going to make this go away??? NOPE IT WON'T...
i am sure that the OMHA can come up with something....

oh and as a side note to this blog....I DID NOT SEE THE NAME OF THE PLAYER THAT SAID THE "N" WORD???? is it ok to protect him???
i don't think so either. i think his name should have been capitalized in the article. A LITTLE PUBLIC SHAME MAY HELP HIS SPEECH PROBLEM.

Gas Gas.....Oh The Price Of Gas!!

it seems i have take up of late writing in the evening hour. oh well, better that than never my friends.

so.....i drove by a gas station today and rolled down my window to curse. YES, you read that right....I CURSED AT THE STATION. the price of gas hit a high today of $1.05. this really erks me.(putting it politely)
the American dollar slides, ours rises and so does the price at the pumps. WHY?
well i can't explain the backward connections of global political and economic chaos, but i can add some very interesting facts that will make you wonder why we are being bled at the PUMPS.

1. CANADA is the 7th largest oil producer in the world at 3.1 million barrels per day produced.

2. CANADA comes in 2nd when it comes to the largest oil reserves. a whopping 179 billion barrels. the only one larger is Saudi Arabia.

3. the estimate for untaped oil in Alberta could be 2 trillion barrels or even higher.

4. for every barrel of crude taken out of the ground, 20 gallons (80 litres) of gasoline is produced plus 7 gallons (28 litres) of diesel.

5. China and the United States are 1 and 2 when it comes to consuming oil on the planet.

6. if you look at any geography map you will see that in the middle east, the USA has more military installations on oil rich countries then any other place in the world with the exception of their own country.

7. one of the reasons for invading Afganistan was to secure a foothold in the middle east and begin building a pipeline that would run to the nearest sea port....The Persian Gulf.

8. who would be the largest beneficiary of this pipeline.....CHINA.

9. China has the 2nd largest export economy in the world and is forecast to soon overtake the USA for top spot.

10. there are 12 nations that make up OPEC. CANADA IS NOT ONE OF THEM. these 12 nations control 40% of the world's oil.

11. if CANADA is not part of OPEC, then why are we adhering to the price of gas set by OPEC?

12. CANADA should be able to sustain its own country with oil and still have some left over to sell.

SO with all this information, what can we conclude about the price of gas in our cities and towns?

- the government is making a hefty sum in taxes by allowing the OPEC cartel to set gas prices rather than provide reasonable prices for our own country.
- the large consumers of the world, China and USA are the largest exporters of goods and consumers....so someone has to keep them happy.
- the Americans militarily control the middle east and so have a say in who gets what with regards to oil.
- China is the biggest consumer and will soon be the largest exporter of goods. their number one customer is.....you got it....the good old USA. so they get the pipeline.

SO WHAT EXACTLY ARE WE GETTING????? we are getting it up the wazooooooooo!!!!!
in the future, the USA will be looking north to get their hands on CANADA's oil because of the potential trillions of barrels still sitting there untouched.

THE ONLY ONE REALLY LOSING IS little us. we are stuck filling the coffers of governments and oil cartels with money. when in reality we could be paying for cheap gas with the reserves from our own back yard.

in Venezuela, the government subsidizes the price of gas for the people because they have it...... HERE'S A NEWS FLASH.... WE HAVE OIL TOO.....WHY ARE WE NOT SUBSIDIZED???? G R E E D....plain and simple.

so i just found this.....read it!
it explains our oil consumption in a simplified way.

"The structure of the Canadian oil market is a dual one. Oil is produced and exported from Western Canada and Newfoundland, while the refining industry in Atlantic Canada, Quebec and part of Ontario relies upon imported crude oil for feedstocks. This is because there is no transportation cost advantage in shipping crude oil from Western Canada to those refineries in Eastern Canada, which have relatively easy access to offshore crudes. Instead, the surplus Canadian crude oil production is exported to U.S. refineries that are relatively closer to the source of production. The east coast Canadian refineries, which rely on imported crude oil, export their surplus production to the United States. This ensures that Canada derives the maximum benefit from the development of its resources in terms of investment, employment and economic growth."

WAKE UP CANADA.....why don't you just get your shit together and build the refineries you need to turn crude into gas and look after yourself for a change. The Americans invaded the middle east to get oil....let them have it and the OPEC prices too.

Cell Phone Warning Labels....

so i have found my voice again....in an article that i have just read about Ontario refusing to put warning labels for health risks on cell phones? they say the manufacturers already label the phones in the information package inside.

tell me something people....why on earth would they not? studies have shown the increase of health risk due to usage of cell phones that are linked to cancer. Ya know...the disease that Terry Fox died from!!!
if this is a potential health risk....a valid one, why the hell are they not making all phone manufacturers do it????

so let's be clear on what the government does force a label on.....


- cigarettes. these are the number one bad habit of Canadians. the government forces the industry to put warnings on the packaging as a....(here it is now)HEALTH RISK. they have gone as far as making the manufacturers put disgusting pictures on the front that seem only to disturb the non-smokers! and force the store owners to hide them behind doors so the youth can't see them....WOW WHAT A DETERENT THAT IS??? the manufacturers of cigarettes for years had warning labels on their packs in Canada....why add the graphics?

why.....cause the government has to LOOK PIOUS as they make a hefty profit from the tax on SMOKES and to loose that revenue would cost a huge increase in taxes for all the non-smokers. thats right all you non-smokers...kiss a smoker, they are paying your tax increase for you. i often wish one morning i would wake to find that Canada has gone smoke free...i will open my window to listen to all the non-smokers begin to cry about why THEIR TAXES HAVE GONE WAAAAAAAAAAY UP. (smiling here!)


- liquor. there is another product the government shows no mercy for when it comes to advertising. DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE. DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE KILLS.... we have all seen the ads on tv. why such a huge campaign for this product. the government is also making tax dollars off the drinkers. imagine if you drink and smoke, the tax is staggering....kiss them too you non-smoker/drinkers. they keep your taxes low also. commercials on television for beer and liquor tell the viewer to DRINK RESPONSIBLY. isn't that enough?


the provincial government can ban texting and making calls while you drive??? HELL its a criminal law.....(that doesn't get enforced much by the way)
so why Mr. McGinty, can't you go the extra step and put the warning label on the damn phones??

I HAVE YET TO SEE A PHONE MANUFACTURER AD say....monitor your usage it may contribute to cancer???!!!!!

THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD STAY THE HELL OUT OF AD CAMPAIGNS FOR HEALTH REASONING. IF THEY WANT THE PUBLIC TO BE AWARE OF A DANGER, allow the manufacturers to place the warning label.....like the phone company manufacturers did.
IF ITS GOOD FOR ONE.......ITS GOOD FOR THEM ALL.
oh and another reason.....stop treating us like we are helpless children that need your guidance and interruption in our private lives. IF I WANT TO SMOKE, I WILL! and what a wonderful day it is...the sun is shining, the sky is blue and Quebecer separatist Gilles Duceppe is stirring again about WHEN Quebec becomes its own country.

Go Gilles Go!!!! the faster you leave, the happier Canada will be!!!!
there are many benefits to Quebec leaving.....

1. no more forced french!!!! we won't have to have it any longer...on our packaging, on TV, in our government or schools.
2. we can finally make french schools that wish to exist turn into private schools and save the extra cash for public ones.
3. the money Quebec owes as their portion of the debt can go to the deficit. (that would make Harper happy...his bacon would be saved a bit.)
4. the cost of making money at the Canadian Mint would be less after all that Canadian currency is handed back.
5. any money given to Quebec to boost their economy would then go to provinces that need it!!!!
6. we would have 3 countries that hosted NHL games.
7. Canada would gain back its reputation for being nice, since all the quebec tourists would no longer represent us abroad.
8. We don't need their MAPLE SYRUP....ontario has lots.
9. Quebec leaving would finally force the federal government into coming up with alternative energies.
10. AND IT JUST SOUNDS GOOD......BYE BYE FRANC-A-FROGS!

it will be interesting to see how the Americans react to this drum-beating. i am sure that they may find it a bit disturbing and wonder about the stability of a new country and the services it says it can promise. will the Americans find it a good idea and manipulate Quebec to lower the cost of their business? Will there be stability since there is not Canadian Federal Government to aid them?
or is all this chin-wagging hot air because people are scared to step away from Canada to venture out into a brave new "heavily taxed" world.

Chip Bags Are Noisy???....landfills

well chalk it up to the american people for complaining to chip giant Frito-Lay saying the bags are too noisy! YOU HEARD THAT RIGHT....TOO NOISY!!!

a short time ago Frito-Lay decide to do their part to help reduce landfill, they designed a biodegradable bag that would not harm the environment.
WHAT A GREAT IDEA!!!!! REALLY!!!!! it was finally nice to see companies that are the largest generators of trash step up and pitch in
.....now here's the problem......
people began to email and write to Frito-Lay about (here it comes now) how noisy the bags were when they were crumpled up!!!! WHAT THE HELL????
YO...joe public.....here's a complicated solution to the problem...DON'T CRUMPLE THE DAMNED BAG YOU IDIOT.
so in light of these complaints...what does the chip company do....they are switching out all biodegradable bags on all their Sunchips but one.
SO MUCH FOR SAVING THE ENVIRONMENT???!!!!!
SHAME ON YOU FRITO-LAY for giving in to idiots. consummers they may be, but earth caring environmentalists they are not!

so let me stay on the landfill theme ok....here are some interesting facts about other things that should not be in landfill sites.
pay attention....your world may depend on it eventually.

-Plastic bottles take 700 years to begin composting. the chemicals from the plastic leech into our water tables and could have horrific affects on us physically.

-90% of the cost of bottled water is due to the bottle itself. to melt down and product another plastic product or plastic bottle for our PLASTIC WORLD isn't cheap. for every bottle of water that is about $1.50, it costs about $1.11 for the plastic.

-80% of plastic bottles are not recycled. this is just sheer laziness or not caring about the environment. would this number go DOWN if we started fining people for misuse??? YOU BET YOUR ASS IT WOULD.

-38 million plastic bottles go to the dump per year in CANADA from bottled water (not including soda) what else can i say but....SAD

-24 million gallons of oil are needed to produce a billion plastic bottles. so all you idiots that throw away your plastic drinking bottles cuz ya don't give a chit...STOP WHINING ABOUT THE PRICE OF GAS.

-The average CANADIAN consumes 167 bottles of water a year. DRINK FROM THE TAP....its the same damned liquid as in your bottled water.

-Bottling and shipping water is the least energy efficient method ever used to supply water.

-Bottled water is the second most popular beverage in CANADA.
the first is COFFEE....and that doesn't come in plastic.

- Over 46,000 pieces of plastic debris float on every square mile of ocean.

in recent years hard plastic which is used in hard water bottles, baby bottles and other hard plastic liquid containers are UNSAFE.

plastics made from polycarbonate resin can leach bisphenol-A (BPA), a potent hormone disruptor. BPA, a chemical found in epoxy resin and polycarbonate plastics, may impair the reproductive organs and have adverse effects on tumors, breast tissue development and prostate development by reducing sperm count. DID YA HERE THAT GUYS....YOU MAY LOSE SOME OF YOUR SWIMMERS!!!!
BPA can be leached into the water bottles contents through normal wear and tear, exposure to heat and cleaning agents. This includes leaving your plastic water bottle in your car during errands, in your back pack during hikes and running it through your dishwasher and using harsh detergents. OH AND ANOTHER HELPFUL HINT...don't heat your food in plastic either.

Charity Money To The Fund Raisers?..here's my IOU buddy!.

well, here it is! i have been waiting for something nice and juicy to sink my teeth into. the news has been dull lately, but TODAY.......its great!

DID YOU KNOW....that Canadians rank 3rd in the world as the most charitable donaters???!!!!!!!! WOOOOOHOOOOOOO CANADA!!!!

i just read an article about Charities and what portion goes to private fund raisers!!!???? DISGUSTING and shameful i might add.


from 2004 to 2008 $762 million dollars went to these ''fund raiser organizations." the total haul of private donations ( yes, that is joe-you and joe-me) was 32 billion. it may not seem like much....in fact close to 10%, but it is not like that in every case. there were over 200 cases investigated by CBC that showed the fund raiser was making more than the charity.
WANT SOME EXAMPLES......

- The Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan, which paid $96,849 for a campaign that raised just $95,812.

- The Children's Leukemia Research Association Canada, which raised $4.2 million over the last four years, but paid $3.2 million of that to its external fundraiser.

- Nova Scotia Crime Stoppers, which raised $2.8 million between 2003 and 2009 — of which $2.2 million, or 79 per cent, went to pay its fundraiser.

This is so sad, why is the government allowing fund raisers to make more than the charity brings in????? THAT IS LIKE STEALING FOOD FROM A STARVING MAN!!!

Today, it's a $2.8-billion business and growing, with an average 35 cents of every dollar donated to charity going to pay fundraising costs.

WHEN THEY RING YOUR TELEPHONE OR KNOCK ON YOUR DOOR.....DO YOU KNOW WHERE YOUR MONEY IS GOING??? is the play on your sympathies sounding rather shylock-like?
how do we know where the money is going? how do we know who will get most of it? HOW DO YOU FIND OUT THESE TO AVOID THE PITFALLS OF FALSE HOPE FOR OTHERS? EASY....START BY ASKING SOME KEY QUESTIONS WHEN THEY CALL OR KNOCK....

- What is your CRA charitable registration number?

- Can you send me your audited financial statements?

- How much of my donation will be spent on costs?

If a charity's not going to be transparent with you on how it's spent money in the past, why would you give it a donation?

if they don't provide that info to you....then you are probably right in assuming that your money ain't clothing some cold kid, it ain't feeding some starving family, and it ain't finding the cure for some disease!! YOU CAN BE SURE....that joe-fund raiser will make the payment on his jaguar this month, have a great dinner out somewhere and laugh all the way to retirement because of YOUR GOOD HEARTED CANADIAN DONATION. can you spell ''sucker''

now don't get me wrong, i am sure not all charities pay such a high cost.
BUT I GUESS MY QUESTION IS......WHY SHOULD THEY HAVE TO PAY FOR IT AT ALL??

i was just reading an article on line about a minister in Hobokin-nowhere Florida who says he will burn a Qu'ran in honour of the anniversary of 9-11. this man is a complete IDIOT!!! you know the kind, there's no god but my god kind of idiot. this man is trying to introduce and incite people to anger using religion as the match stick.
people from around the world are answering his call to protest his action. even his own government has asked that he not do that in the event that it will ignite or incite violence in other parts of the world towards American troops.

good morning,

its been a while. i was on summer holidays....BUT I'M BACK!!!!!!

so i have been reading about the flooding in Pakistan and they are horrific to say the very least. hundreds of thousands of people are homeless and without food. the threat of disease has set in.
WHAT CAN WE DO???? help them.

diplomats, governments and the UN have surveyed and assessed the devastated area and all are saying that this is the WORST disaster of flooding ever. SO WHAT? EXACTLY WHAT ARE THEY DOING ABOUT IT??? not a lot really. they do what every country does....they throw money at the problem. don't get me wrong, Pakistan needs the money to rebuild the areas affected....but most of all they need MEDICINE AND FOOD.

WHY DON'T THE COUNTRIES OF THE WORLD START SENDING MEDICAL SUPPLIES AND FOOD??? WHY DON'T THEY SEND PEOPLE THAT ARE ORGANIZED TO DISTRIBUTE IT PROPERLY? WHY ARE THE GOVERNMENTS NOT TALKING TO THE PAKISTANI GOVERNMENT ABOUT GOING IN TO HELP? WHY ARE WE NOT SENDING PEOPLE TO COME UP WITH ENGINEERING SOLUTIONS?

fresh off the G8 and G20 summits with leaders from around the world and a global promise to reduce debts, the minority federal government again has ANNOUNCED ANOTHER SPENDING SPREE!!!! oh my fellow Canadians, this one is like no other...and will cost the tax payers of this already burdened country even more....try 9 BILLION dollars more. Yes!!! whoohaaaa more taxes!
The federal government announced that it has awarded a contract to American Corporation Lockheed Martin to ship F-35 fighters to Canada. the first to arrive in 2016.
not only is the cost outrageous, (here it comes now...hang on...) but the federal government, in its ever growing infinite stupidity, has not allowed the contract to be BID on, but rather just awarded it to Lockheed Martin. this is OUTRAGEOUS!!!! why are we paying for fighters at a ridiculous cost and WHY DID THE GOVERNMENT NOT ALLOW OTHER BIDDERS????

can we not build planes in CANADA? does the ARROW not count as an example of our ability? (you know...the plane designed, built and tested here that the Americans stole by forceably bankrupting ARROW.) does our economy not need jobs...good paying jobs? does this not meet the criteria of the "make work program" that the government has been spouting out on TV commercials?

It's Been A While....but Something Always Crops Up!!

well its been a while, but something always crops up in the news to raise the hair on the back of my neck. and god bless the media for being so diligent about reporting stuff that pisses me off.

today's latest thing is the "Eco Fee." have you heard of it??? most Canadian's haven't....mostly because the government didn't feel the need to inform us. why didn't they??? that i will get to later.

first the Eco Fee. it seems that the federal government wants us to be "aware" what we do not sort for garbage. there are a list of products that now fall under this Eco Fee.

the government decided that the Canadian public should sort potential harmful containers and deposit them at a soon to be issued 'orange station' in their area. what is an orange station? well it is a spot at your local landfill that accepted your paint cans and oil containers or any other container or product deemed unsafe for the regular landfill. why do we need to change how this is structured? because of the alarming amount of containers and products that are appearing without people being careful.

so in layman's terms here's how its suppose to work: 1. the government said the stores or manufacturers would have to pay an Eco Fee for any product that was deemed harmful or unsafe. 2. the price would range from 13c for some products to $6.66 for a fire extinguisher weighing more than 5.5lbs. 3. the Eco Fee would roll into action as of July 1, 2010. 3. ALL moneys would go to the set up and run of these orange stations to monitor and accept possible harmful or unsafe containers and products. 4. NO MONEY would see the pockets of the government. 5. money will be collected by Stewartship Ontario. (what that is, i don't know) 6. this new program was introduced to make the public aware of what can go and what cannot go to the local landfill.
THAT IS THE GOVERNMENT'S VERSION.

NOW FOR REALITY..... 1. there was little to NO information made public about this ECO FEE to Canadians. WHY?.... because the government thought that it could slip it by us. 2. MOST Canadians already use their local 'hazardous waste programs' at their local landfills. WHY do we need a new one? WHY?....MONEY. 3.the contents that they wish us to sort are the same as the ones we have always sorted. WHY? revenue for a few 1000 jobs. 3. the Stewartship Ontario is what? WHY?....cause its easier to create a non profit company to filter money through. the private business sector does it all the time....only if they get caught its called LAUNDERING. 4. companies and distributors don't want to pay the Eco Fee. WHY?....it eats into their profits. 5. the Eco Fee has been passed on to the consumer sector. WHY? because the little guy gets it in the neck every time and apparently...we are not yet burdened enough with federal and provincial taxation.

SO WHAT EXACTLY IS THE GOVERNMENT DOING ABOUT THIS FEE THAT HAS BEEN SLYLY HANDED DOWN TO US?????? N O T H I N G!!!!
the minister of environment one John Gerretson thinks that its ok that we swallow the fees because it will make us aware of what is being put into the landfills.

KNOW WHAT I SAY......SHOVE YOUR ECO FEES....AND SHAME ON YOU MR. GERRETSEN FOR THINKING THAT WE WOULD SWALLOW ANOTHER LOT OF BULLSHIT!!!!!!
why are you not righting this wrong and make sure that the companies and distributors are absorbing these fees? why are you not making them label containers stating that this is an Eco Fee product? why are you JUST NOT MAKING THEM FIND FRIENDLIER CHEMICALS OR BETTER CONTAINERIZATION SO SHIT LIKE THIS DOESN'T GET TO OUR LANDFILLS? why are we always the ones that pay for the business sectors bullshit?

so can anyone tell me.....WHAT HAPPENED IN TORONTO ON THE WEEKEND ANYWAY? there has been a lot of smoke and mirrors about protesters that has filled the news for 3 days. when you stop and think about it....it was a puff of smoke compared to other protests in other countries. sure a few windows got smashed, but store owners were warned close up and board up.
the media spent its time and effort bringing us every detail about "the BLACK BLOCK".
sure they are assh*les and they caused a lot of damage.
its what the media DIDN'T TELL YOU that you should be worried about, not a bunch of adolescents tossing rocks.
well i found out what happened at the G20 summit but not from Canadian news coverage. i got what went on from the BBC. sad isn't it that a Canadian has to get information about an event in their own country from an outside news agency.
SO HERE IT IS.......

1. the leaders want to send more money to 3rd world countries for mother and child health care. COST ( unknown....no dollar amount was released)

2. they want to see deficit cuts from all attending nations by half before or around 2013. COST ( well after Canadians swallow this Summit Money Pit they will have to swallow more.)
how ironic that we will send money to countries for the health of women and children and at the same time programs such as health care, schooling and others will be cut here for our mothers and children.
WELL THAT'S IT.....THAT'S ALL THEY ACCOMPLISHED FOR 1 BILLION DOLLARS!!!!

- they condemned the North Korean sinking of a South Korean ship.

at the last G20 summit the then leaders said that they would push 22 BILLION into agriculture in countries that needed help. so what is left over in Toronto after all this.....I WILL TELL YA!!

I DO BELIEVE YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO PROTEST. that being said, i DO NOT believe that random violence and destruction of public property is a PROTEST.

as any law abiding Canadian can, your right to protest anything from pink flowers along a main street to the G20 summit is yours. the ugliness that broke out today in downtown Toronto was not protest by VANDALISM. the most disturbing part is that these COWARDS known as the BLACK BLOCK, clad in all black garb, dressed as the rest of the protesters and later broke away, removing plain clothes and wearing black. not only was it their disguise that disturbed us, but the violent destruction of property. NO banners were carried, NO chants were heard and NO sign of the reason for their march. the destruction of the downtown area will cost ontario/canada big bucks....add that to the 1.1 billion this 3 day fiasco started. after the wave of violence and many attempts to break police lines, the BLACK BLOCK then melted back into the crowd and removed black clothing, returning to street clothes as the rest of the peaceful demonstrators.
what was the purpose of the violence today??? some say to show the big corporations that the little guy is fighting back, some say is was to show the leaders that not everything they say and do in the next 2 days is ok with the people.

the other thing in the news today, or shall i say not in the news today, was that the Australian representative, one PM Rudd did not come to the G8 or the G20. wanna know why......? well it seems his own party decided that Mr. Rudd had done enough damage to his party and country and they voted him out. i do believe that this has been in the works for a while, but only sprung by the covent just before the summits so that it appeared suddenly to the people of Australia. the new acting PM is a woman... YOU READ IT RIGHT...A WOMAN. from past news articles, she seems to not be totally on the level and has her own agenda. its sad really, WHERE DID DEMOCRACY GO??? how can a country get a new leader just because his own party says so?? why are the people not deciding? we will find out in a month or so when Aussies go back to the voting booths and vote in a federal election again. i have a feeling that this was a last ditch effort by Rudd's party to maintain some form of leadership and repair damage done. the opposition is crawling back out of disrespect and making positive waves in the polls. i think their fear is losing the election in a few months. unfortunately, i don't think the image of this woman will bolster any positive poll support for the party and they will indeed lose the next election. THE PRICE TAG TO THE TAXPAYERS (sit down for this one) its only going to cost 1.9 million to build. (i did tell ya to sit down, now get off the floor and read the rest)

This FAKE LAKE being built is not for LEADERS OF COUNTRIES, its not for DIPLOMATS, its not even for their WIVES OR AIDES.....its for REPORTERS!!!! YIP....foreign reporters. not all reporters will have access to the G8 or G20 so our PRIME MINISTER, and his "magic dollar hat" has found 1.9 million to build a lake and promote the country and province. are we then to assume that a 3.5 kilometre fence that's 9 meters high to surround the G20 SUMMIT is there to promote the beauty of the province as well? NOT TO MENTION sound cannons to disperse unruly protesters who have every right to speak their minds. WOW! there's something to put on an Ontario Tourism postcard!!!!

well the wool has been pulled over the eyes of the CANADIAN people again. after the April 1 bullshit speech to the nation about bringing the troops home and telling the US that ''we decide our policy in Afganistan'', our wonderful PR...oops! PM has all but decided to leave some boys behind after the deadline to train the Afganistan police. Mr. Harper lied. can't get any more honest then that now can i. bringing home the CANADIANS means all the CANADIANS, not most of the CANADIANS. canadian people really need to rethink what this guy is doing to our country. he has spent more money than any other minority government has.
my question is this.....I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW HOW MANY MEMBERS OF PARLIMENT HAVE CHILDREN IN AFGANISTAN. then i will tell you how long the troops will remain there.

McDonalds is recalling 12 million shrek glasses because the paint is cadmium. this paint with cadmium is a carcinogen that can cause softening of bones and kidney problems. they charged $2 a glass and are asking people to return them. BUT....and here it comes.....there is no mention in the article about reimbursement of your $2 or where the glasses where manufactured??? i am sure we can all guess where they were made....and as for your $2, well i am sure McDs will be happy to provide you with a happy meal in lue of the money!!??? the oil in the gulf is beginning to show its affects on wildlife. i can't imagine what these animals must be going through. the weight alone of the oil would be devastating to them let alone the toxicity. it is a death blow to hundreds of species and many more that man has not discovered yet. the long term effects will be a huge blow to the ecosystem. people will say...so what, it doesn't affect human life its just a loss of oil and the cost of the cleanup.

Oil & Israel....Can It Get Any Worse?

Can BP Oil Survive?

BP oil has had its share of bad luck lately. so says the CEO of
BP. Bad Luck?? he is lucky that he hasn't appeared in world
court....he is EVEN LUCKIER that there is not law about
CRIMES AGAINST THE ENVIRONMENT?

1. AN OIL RIG EXPLODES...its been almost a month now since
this rig blew up KILLING some of its workers.

2. ATTEMPTS TO STEM THE FLOW....it has been on the border
of insanity that NO OIL COMPANY can fix or guarantee that
if something goes wrong like this at a rig THEY REALLY HAVE
NO STRATEGY OR KNOW HOW TO FIX A DISASTER! attempts
to stem the flow at earth levels and sea level with a variety
of methods all have crumbled under the power of the
pressure of oil pouring from within the earth pocket. unable
to contain or plug the spill from below, BP had attempted a
top kill on the weekend, but it failed and the likelihood of
another rig in place months away is leaving very little
options to stem the flow. Wednesday they will attempt to
saw through the pipe and cap it.

3. STRONG RUMOURS OF PAYOFFS.... there are rumours that
inspectors that visited the rig were being paid off with
sporting event tickets, cash and holidays.

4. ENVIRONMENTAL ECOSYSTEMS AND COASTLINES...the cost
to states like Texas, Louisiana and Florida will skyrocket soon
as the waves of oil hit the coast. 125 miles of the Louisiana
coastline has already been affected. coastal areas that
harbour national and state parks that house thousands of
wildlife species will be affected. the plants and vegetation
that animals feed on will be no longer edible to sustain life.
the ground that will be saturated will be unusable to grow or
generate plant life. this could cause great cost to commercial
cropping. tourism in these states will come to almost a halt.
resorts will be affected greatly with tourists and summer
vacationers abandoning favoured coastal spots.

5. THE GULF STREAM....this current is crucial to the climates
of Europe. it is one of the strongest currents in the world
that can reach top speeds of 70kph. if the slick enters this
stream, European coastlines and arctic coastlines could be
affected causing environmental damage.

6. HEALTH RISKS...the first to report health issues are some
of the Gulf fisherman who have volunteered to help with the
cleanup. respiratory problems are prevalent. officials feel that
the use of the chemical that is being sprayed by BP is
causing health problems. the chemical COREXIT was used to
cleanup the Exxon Valdez spill in Alaska and had health risks
and reports from workers during that period. BP has
dispersed some 830,000 gallons of the chemical before they
were stopped. COREXIT is still being used right at the source
of the spill. a video i saw showed the liquid right next to the
oil plume fanning back and forth. some 212,000 gallons a
day exits this pipe to help break up the oil. attempts at
topside burning has sent workers to hospital for upper
respiratory issues. officials have begun to form and place
triage units along the coastline for those who need medical
attention.

7. COST....besides the ever growing price tag that is into the
BILLIONS of dollars now for BP, there is the cost of life and all
that surrounds it. the dollar after affects for BP will be
staggering. shares in BP dropped 17% at the last closing on
the London Stock Market. the state of affairs in the Gulf and
the aftermath could see the end of BP and bankruptcy.

8. WEATHER...the urgency to cleanup is even dearer now that
the North American Hurricane season is knocking at the
door. the presence of just one hurricane could spell the end
of every attempt to diminish the assault of oil on the
American coastlines.

KNOW WHAT I SAY......STOP ALL OFFSHORE DRILLING NOW!!!
with the effort of BP and their lack of strategy or ability to
control the situations IT LEAVES ME TO WONDER....who else
is not prepared or has the ability to prevent this from
happening. Can companies like SHELL, EXXON MOBIL,
CONOCO AND CHEVRON PROMISE SOMETHING BETTER? sadly,
i don't think so. in the path of progress we have put aside the
cost and application of safety for profit. I DO NOT BELIEVE
that these companies could promise or do anything better
than what BP is doing now.

SO STOP ALL DRILLING OFFSHORE...until companies can
physically prove that they have a sound process to make
sure this doesn't happen and that they can demonstrate it to
the people of the world. i could live with higher gas prices if
they had to do this.

NOW ON TO ISRAEL.....
Israel's recent history with conflict has not ingratiated it on
the international scene. this last incident has stirred the
quieter middle eastern countries and parts of Europe to
protest in front of Israeli embassies.

so far, America and Canada are kissing the boots of the the
Israelis!! my question is WHY? WHAT kind of power does
Israel possess that causes America and Canada to be so slow
in condemning this latest action?

the incident i speak of has been all over the news. Israeli
military boarded and attacked relief ships in international
waters some 145km of the coast of Israel. the ships were
trying to get needed food and materials to the Gaza strip for
the oppressed Palestinians. footage has leaked out to news
agencies that were not approved by Israel that shows
soldiers beating and shooting people on board.

Demonstrations in Turkey and Greece were bordering on
violent in front of the Israeli embassy. police were forced to
use some restraint for fear that the embassy would be
stormed. in fact, a Turkish government representative called
the Israeli attack on the flotilla "an act of piracy and Israel
should be subject to international laws governing it."

it seems that the only countries that are walking softly are
countries like Canada, America, Britain and Germany. they
only seemed to be concerned to know if any of their people
on board were injured. Canada is a big nuclear promoter and
has what is needed by many countries to actively participate
in nuclear energy or arms.

the UN declared this week that Israel should allow nuclear
inspectors in to see just what they are stockpiling and
hiding. the prime minister of Israel, Binyamin Netanyahu
avoided the call for Israel to sign a nuclear proliferation
treaty and instead complained that Iran was not asked to.

THE STORM IS BREWING THERE...and Israel will be in the
center of it all. people of the world seem to be losing their
tolerance of Israel's muscle flexing and i fear that some kind

of war will begin.

what Israel doesn't see is that they are very quickly turning
into the monsters that held their own people in contempt
just some 65 years ago. the REALLY SAD THING IS....the
world is allowing it to happen while we sit back and watch
''reality TV".

i have just finished reading an article about how the Federal Government has added an extra $160 million dollars to the G8 and G20 budget. WOW! obviously the recent reccession did not affect the government unlike its people?!!
SO, LETS GET DOWN TO THE COLD HARD CASH FACTS......

- the original budget set for these events that are back to back was 933 million!
- another 160 million has been added for food safety.
- the grand total is now 1.1 BILLION and the finance minister said this could rise yet!!!!!

PRE-BOOK A HOTEL SUIT OR FLOOR OF A HOTEL....make sure you have enough rooms for your entourage based on double occupancy. i recommend hotels like Best Western, or Motel 8. they are clean with a TV, WIFI, internet and a bar fridge. COST = 1 floor $2000 to $3000.

TRANSPORTATION....use your diplomat cars, rent a car, city cabs or public transit. the TTC is not that expensive. YOU CAN AFFORD IT! COST = diplomat car $400 for gas; rented car $500; city cab $190; public transit $80.

FOOD....if you require a specific type of food due to religious reasons, bring it. Toronto has a wide variety of places to eat that have TAKE OUT! COST = $80 a day; bring your own FREE.

CANADA NEEDS TO BE SEEN AS A WORLD LEADER....but not at the expense of footing rediculous bills for people that can afford to pay for things that we dream of.

SO MR. HARPER.....maybe your finance minister needs to rethink costs and get a few extra quotes!!!!....and bring that DOLLAR VALUE FOR THE SUMMIT DOWN A BIT.

its May 20th and on this day your federal government has once again refuse to permit a special audit of their expenses. Auditor General Sheila Fraser asked last June if her office could conduct a 'performance audit' on the 533 million spent by the House of Commons and the Senators. of course, the all Party Board of Internal Economy recently rejected the request. MPs say there is already an independent auditor that examines MPs' expenses so there is no need to dig deeper....

RCMP....what do these 4 letters tell you as a Canadian Citizen? the RCMP is once again in the headlines and is in deep doodoo. in Surrey BC an officer, one said Constable Imran Saeed has already been charged with 2 counts of assault. the RCMP revealed Wednesday that another charge may be pending for Cpl Annie Linteau who was to have allegedly assaulted a woman in February of 2009. WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON??? if its not TAZERS, its ASSAULT???

SHELL OIL promises Arctic drilling will be safe. WTF?? i had a look at what shell has propose for their safety add ons in the wake of the BP fiasco in the gulf. in a nutshell its this.....shell says it will build a prefabricated coffer dam like the one that didn't work for BP. shell says it will increase testing on blowout preventers from 14 days to every 7 days...big deal. shell also says the company would also design a "remote hot stab system," which would allow a remotely operated vehicle, diver or support vessel to activate the blowout preventer through a cable from a sled on the sea floor a safe distance from the well.

But Marilyn Heiman, U.S. Arctic program director for the Pew Environment Group, said Shell is still not prepared to respond to a major spill.

The company instead emphasizes its previous claim that the chance for a blowout is slim, she said.
Inuvialuit seek halt to drilling licences

Meanwhile, the Inuvialuit Regional Corp., which represents the western Arctic Inuit, is urging the Canadian government to stop issuing offshore exploration licences because of concerns that oil and gas companies are not able to adequately prevent or respond to spills in the Beaufort Sea.
KNOW WHAT I SAY....Shell is dreaming if they think they can contain an oil spill in this remote area. the very idea of getting ships to this area for cleanup alone would be a burden. with these added precautions, Shell has not proved that it is capable of a quick and effective cleanup and really hasn't added to any safety features that BP had. DO WE LOOK STUPID? apparently so...its all about profit margins for these companies, people and ecosystems take a sorry back seat. to add to the pot, no one in the article has mentioned what a spill would do to the ecosystems in the arctic....I HATE TO TELL YA THIS...but it just ain't ice up there people. not only that...since BP can't seem to contain their mess and it is drifting to the American coastline with very complex ecosystems, how would a spill affect the CANADIAN coastline? i don't care about the yankees, i am CANADIAN and i care about my coastline.
these so called extra securities are not securites at all as far as i am concerned. they are just low grade reactionary measures in case there is a spill. where are the measures to prevent spills...THERE ARE NONE. and until companies can guarantee these measures...NO DRILLING IN OUR SOVEREIGN WATERS THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
